MBMS has been named a recipient of the Exemplary Performance Award for the 2024-25 school year! This is the highest honor awarded to middle and high school band programs in Georgia and it represents the outstanding work done by our students in all areas of music performance.
Congratulations to both our 7th and 8th grade bands for earning superior ratings at their state performance evaluations! Our students earned the highest tier of ratings in both stage performance and sight reading. Way to go! #MusicInOurSchoolsMonth
Congratulations to Yubin Kim, Hudson Gurley, and Collin York for earning a position in the 2024 Georgia All State Band! This is a tremendous honor and represents many hours of preparation and commitment. We are so proud of you! #MusicInOurSchoolsMonth
What a privilege to have Dr. Michael Robinson join us in class today! Dr. Robinson is professor of music education at UGA and a former director of the Redcoat Marching Band. 🐶 🎶
Beginning band students shared their own compositions with their classmates today! Students were challenged to create new variations on a famous melody by Mozart and teach them to their peers. #mbmsfinearts
You can find instruments in the most unusual places! Our students have been busy gathering materials and building unique contraptions for some special sound effects to be used in our Fall Concert. Don’t miss it! This Thursday night at 6:30pm in the MBMS gym.
Our students have been busy making music outside of MBMS! Congratulations to Holton for performing with the Northeast Georgia Saxophone Ensemble, Katherine and Nicolas for performing with the Athens Youth Symphony, and Caroline, Matthew, and Owen for leading music at their church
Congrats to Dr. York, Mr. Davis, the MBMS 8th Grade Band, and our guest recorder musicians for an exceptional spring concert. The Oconee County Community has some of the finest young musicians in the state and country. Go Bolts!
