100 years ago today, Boston College broke ground in a ceremony that marked the beginning of construction for Bapst Library. The building was completed in 1925 and has served as a favorite study spot of BC students ever since.
For this installation of #BookFaceFriday we pay homage to the legendary Renaissance oil painter, Caravaggio, whose 451st birthday would have been yesterday! If you want to spend more time looking through his beautiful collection of works, you can check out Rizzoli's "Caravaggio".
With another #WeirdWonderfulWednesday upon us we take an inside (and outside) look at "Luginbühl" created by the Swiss sculptor Bernhard Luginbühl, renowned for his weird and wonderful metalworks. This book's front and back covers are made of iron plates.
Today we wish a very happy belated birthday to the highly influential abstract artist Mark Rothko (09/25/1903-02/25/1970). Rothko is best known for his distinct rectangular color-block paintings.
Happy #bookfacefriday to all who celebrate! Today we honor the iconic Mexican surrealist painter, Frida Kahlo. The book featured is “Frida Kahlo” by Emma Dexter and is just one of many beautiful books in Bapst’s collection that illuminate Kahlo’s fascinating life and career.
We are midway through our DS Incubator and things are going great. @allisonxyq and @MatthewNaglak spent yesterday explaining the basics of data and mapping (respectively). Tools used: Map Warper, QGIS, ArcGIS Online. Today, data visualization!
