Concerned residents of Barnet from across faith, cultural, environmental & political organisations, wanting to take action tackling our current climate crisis.
do you understand what just happened to your computer..
Google Chrome secretly downloaded a 4GB AI model onto your device. Without asking.. Without telling you..
It's called weights.bin. It lives deep in your system folders. It powers Gemini Nano - Google's on-device AI.
And if you delete it? Chrome re-downloads it automatically. Like nothing happened.
Just Google deciding your hard drive is their storage unit.
At 1 billion Chrome users - that's 4 BILLION gigabytes of data pushed silently across the internet.
The carbon footprint alone equals tens of thousands of cars running for a year.
Check your disk right now:
📁 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\OptGuideOnDeviceModel
To stop it: chrome://flags → disable Optimization Guide On Device Model → restart Chrome → delete the folder.
Reshare so people know what's sitting on their computers.
70-year-old mature silver birch trees in East Finchley may be felled.
The trees stand outside Park House, home to Monkey Puzzle Nursery opposite East Finchley Station, where developer Places for Barnet is set to build 75 new homes and replace the nursery.
Sad to see as we kick off London Climate Action Week with 700 events showing the depth of the UK’s globally competitive climate sector
We hope @Conservatives will come along to @london_climate to meet the businesses who see net zero 2050 as an opportunity not an impossibility
@BarnetCouncil is rolling out 1000 new public access EV chargers in the next 3 years. But certainly on our street it’s not a dedicated space and you’re unlikely to ever find it free. https://t.co/nBry9FkTKi
My full-colour guide to knowing, understanding and identifying garden weeds is just £8 (normally £15) on Amazon UK right now, if you want to learn more about these amazing plants🌱
Plenty of advice on gently zapping them, too

Sizewell C is a colossal waste of £40 billion. The same money could fund a rooftop revolution - putting solar panels on 20 million homes - making 25% of all the electricity Britain needs and knocking around 500 quid a year off our energy bills. Let’s bring Energy Independence home.
And we're pleased to say that we now have a speaker this evening from @CityWestminster who will present on their Climate Fund - launched yesterday - https://t.co/uzTuUI1lb5

So lovely to join @BarnetCouncil drop-in community garden session today at Montrose Park - Mondays 12pm-2.30pm, Wednesdays 12.00pm-2.30pm, and Sundays 5pm-7pm (enter the park from the Greenway and then immediately turn right and follow the paths until you see the raised beds).
It’s No Mow May and over 30 parks and green spaces across Barnet will be left uncut through this month to increase biodiversity and create havens for wildlife, including bees.
Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming the lovely year 1 pupils from @CrowlandPrimary in #Haringey to EcoPark House!
Here are some of the highlights:
📖 Students read the book The House Full of Stuff which is about reusing things to fix and mend rather than buying new
🐦 They then created a bird feeder out of a plastic bottle
♻️ They also explored how to recycle correctly
🛏️ Students loved seeing the trucks sorting through the piles of general waste and were surprised at how many mattresses they could see!
