Mallory Swanson just scored for the USWNT for the first time since the 2024 Olympics. And it came against world champions Spain 👏🏾
She’s also now the 10th mother to score for the USWNT.
“It’s surreal. A lot has happened,” Swanson said on TNT Sports’ post-game show.
“It’s such an honor. I mean even Crystal [Dunn] sitting here, just paving the way for us to be able to be moms and continue to play. I am just super grateful.
“My husband and my parents are here, so it's super special.
“I’ve had conversations with Emma [Hayes]. I think that she knows that everyone's body is different, especially coming back from pregnancy, and she's lived it before.
“And so she's just super supportive and continues to believe in me and put that self-belief in me that it's doable, and just keep on taking those steps.
“You know, it's a long process, and she keeps reminding me that. And yeah, I think this was a good step forward.”
After losing the first game 2-0, the USWNT came from behind to get a 2-2 draw against Spain tonight.
It was a great moment for Swanson to return to the USWNT camp after having her daughter, and scoring against the number one ranked team.
