@janecoaston If you haven’t already, be sure to see Hitchcock’s ‘Shadow of a Doubt’ - particularly (for you) for the dinner table scenes involving the Dad and his friend talking the perfect murders! And a great movie.
@janecoaston Then there are the things they use to serve toast - they separate the slices and make the slices stand up vertical to the table. They are perfect for making certain the toast arrives cold at the table.
@janecoaston I was 16 in 1977, and it wasn’t the greatest year in the history of the world, but in those pre-Internet days we didn’t have to be worried that every communication we received was from someone trying to scam us in some way. That was a positive.
@ibogost Thanks for this-it explains the most annoying feature of these apps-telling me every mile or two to “keep left” to avoid exiting the freeway-I would much prefer it to tell me how many miles to my exit. Maybe you could pass this on to your sources.
@EmoScottPilgrim Love the seal in the Commr’s office! I will never forget the scene in their Batman movie, when they are ready to rehydrate the UN Security Council (!), Adam West gets a closeup in his silly costume, holds up a garden hose, and says “this is a very solemn moment”!
@mattyglesias I’m surprised you would consider giving a real answer to the question - its 1 more piece of personal info for a hacker to gather. Better: treat it as an extra password, give a complex response, & store the Q&A in the same (hopefully secure) place you store other passwords.
