Shawty, You A Teahen
When Mark Teahen is confronted by the reality of the baseball gods, he must join forces with his hated rival, the Cardinal of St. Louis, to thwart a nefarious plot.
Juan Soto is an extreme example. But the wrinkle of a team like the Mets fitting a large contract under a hard cap raises a complicated issue. https://t.co/L0b6I2z1L4
@rossjensen@mdthomp_PLive@24_7BaseballFan Another difference is Judge was a divisive prospect, but you could readily find scouts who believed in him all the way.
With Jones, scouts love the power, but I've yet to find anyone with nice things to say about the total package.
The last glowing report I got on him was 2022.
@rossjensen@mdthomp_PLive@24_7BaseballFan Dude swings stupendously hard though. Might be the John Daly of baseball. If MLB doesn't work out, he could set up some Long Drive competitions via the Bananas and make something new.
@rossjensen@mdthomp_PLive@24_7BaseballFan I very much did not believe Judge would ever make enough contact to be a reliable MLB contributor. I'm happy to double down on that take with Jones. Judge has some unique intangibles that didn't come through in that generation of data. Jones doesn't seem to have those traits.
Years ago, I traded Matt McLain and Jackson Merrill for Luis Robert. He was near the height of his value.
Yikes on all accounts. (I'd definitely undo that one even with low-rolls from McLain and Merrill).
TRANSFER: Texas State shortstop Dawson Park is headed to LSU. Coming off a .301/.387/.575 2026 season where he hit 13 homers. Exceptional defender with physical projection and twitch.
No. 38 ranked prospect for the 2027 Draft.
Alec Bohm has a 114 wRC+ since the start of May. Which is on the good side of his normal output.
Just as with the April slump, he looks like he always looks.
@ManBearHawk No, there's no reason for them not to chase the PPI next year (I think it'll remain if not expand). They have 1-2 months to see if a guy seemingly built for Coors Field can style.
