It is unacceptable that our government would even consider handing over an iota of Canadian sovereignty to bureaucrats 5000 km away!
This is anti-democratic and borderline sinister, given how obviously premeditated it is.
From an economic standpoint, increasing trade with the EU makes sense, but hitching ourselves to that regulatory anchor is self harm.
This is one of the dumbest immigration policy ideas imaginable.
The Trudeau government already turned Canada's human capital immigration system on its head.
Prioritizing the PR applications of millions of low skilled TFWs would only deepen the damage, and is a recipe for continuing to crash Canada's per capita GDP.
Huge numbers of upwardly mobile younger Canadians are leaving the country to pursue opportunity elsewhere. In other words, we are bleeding human capital.
So who in their right mind imagines we can become more productive and prosperous by focussing our immigration intake on the lowest skilled jobs in the economy?
This is what most Canadians want to see happen, IMO. There is a small political elite that has lots of power and tools to spin it otherwise but sensible people know China is not a partner and can’t be under its current form of government.
Christmas Eve in the Netherlands, where every year children light candles on the graves Canadian soldiers who liberated the Netherlands in '44-'45.
Thank you Canada! 🇨🇦
Getting a Grip-en
Canada needs to get a grip on its defence strategy before it gets a Gripen.
Gripens have a role as a 4th gen fighter but only in support roles.
Three priorities:
1. Winning = not dying.
A bunch of low cost planes that have big radar signatures and will get picked off does not help Canada scare Russia and China. Gripens are flying coffins in 1/1 combat with Russian Su57s or Chinese J35s. No one gives the Gripen a chance on those engagements. Unlike Columbia which can line a Gripen up against cartels and other national security threats where it is superior this isn’t remotely true of Canadas threat vectors.
2. US interoperable alignment
- We are the single most important US aligned ally. We share our airspace and border protection with NORAD and new arctic threats from China and Russia with their 5th gen aircraft. And we need to be fully interoperable with US air force capabilities.
- Gripens may have a support role but not ‘instead’ of the most important interoperable 5th gen fighter in the planet. The F35 is a UFO compared to the Gripen. And Canadian firms and thousands of workers make a couple million per plane. Finally, the bizarre talk about running costs for the Gripen v the F35 is like talking about the running costs of an advanced super car - and an F1 car. They run on different costs because they are totally different platforms with different purposes.
3. Strategy not politics
- why are we actually doing this? Is this a true strategic review with our closest allies engaged or is this a culturally and politically insecure Liberal party process to try to use our military choices to act out against the USA out of frustration with Donald Trump?
Canada has to get its act together and do better than this. We don’t put our fighters into sub standard air platforms against superior Russian and Chinese and American jets out of political petulance. We don’t let them air on the sidelines or be demoted to high risk support functions for the USAF simply because we cheaped out for political reasons that will be irrelevant when these jets arrive.
Why does interoperability with the USA matter so much? This video on relative scale of global airforce capabilities does a good job of helping visualise why the US airframes are globally dominant part of our NATO advantage over Russia and China.
And why Canada needs to get aligned and give our forces the best capabilities in the planet.
Which can include Gripens for some functions but let’s get the F35s done.
It’s way past due and now more expensive because we let it get political already once a decade ago only to end up right back where we are today.
Enough.

The Liberal minister who is confiscating firearms and criminalizing farmers and sport shooters doesn't know what a firearms license is.
Even worse, he refused to get educated.
The guys taking your firearms know nothing about them.
It may turn out that Trump is just angling for a better trade deal but those thinking we have no fentanyl issue in Canada are just ignorant.

Almost daily checkstops to fine pot smokers and issuing a cell phone ticket in a MacDonald's drive thru. Low lying fruit while we have serious drug crime in the city and a downtown that really is no longer safe. #yxe#yxecc

Okay, we’re gonna deal with this one.
First, you cannot ask law-abiding citizens, who are not engaged in risky behaviour to compensate for a responsibility that belongs to law enforcement.

I don't have a tremendous amount of sympathy for people who show up to a rally dripping in explicit pro-terror sentiments because they "want peace." This wasn't "one Nazi flag"; you have to be an absolute idiot not to read the true intention of these rallies.
This is a despicable act of antisemitism. Full stop. 👇
It is wholly unacceptable to target people for being Jewish or any business for being Jewish owned. Just as it would be for any other religion. #cdnpoli
The West is an information bubble. How bad is it?
How many of you know that China is currently hosting the BRI Forum right now? Over 130 countries are planning the mutual cooperation to build over $100b of infrastructure, and it's barely news outside of markets.
This is an incredible speech and a must listen. @NYCMayor is a great man. I have gotten to know him over the past year. He is the real deal. NYC is lucky to have him.

Hamas is openly boasting that it tricked Israel into thinking it was interested in improving humanitarian conditions in Gaza, as a cover for preparing the world’s deadliest terror attack after 9/11.
Don’t let Hamas manipulate your good conscience too.
