How a 5 minute conversation with a CEO hiring for his company changed my entire career trajectory..
About 9 years ago I was a second year BA at McKinsey & Company and having a tough time.
I started looking at potential exits, and landed an interview for a strategy role at an exciting tech. startup.
The Head of Strategy was an ex-McKinsey colleague, and the interview went well. Afterwards, I was introduced to the CEO, Muhammad Chbib, for a quick chat.
He asked why I wanted to join. I gave him my rationale. He listened, and then told me (politely but directly) something along the lines of: "we'd love to have you, but I don't think you're leaving for the right reasons."
That was it. Five minutes, but the impact of that conversation and his honesty was profound and fundamentally altered the course of my career.
I didn't take the job. I went back, put my head down and started 'making my own McKinsey'. Stayed for almost 6 years, and that set up everything that came after.
I never thanked him. Honestly, I didn't even remember the conversation until this week. When it came back to me I sent him a message 9 years later (better late than never, right?)
He had every reason to just hire me but he didn't. Not everyone would have done that.
If you're ever in a position to give someone the honest answer instead of the easy one, do it. You might not hear about it for 9 years, but it still counts just the same.
Muhammad Chbib, thank you.
Claude now has its own built-in browser in Cowork.
When your task involves a website, a browser opens in Cowork's side panel, and Claude navigates, fills forms, and finishes the job.

@vasielv Super cool - are you sharing the same leads to different people, or is a lead exhausted once shared, or is there a timer? i.e. if both my neighbour and I sign up, can we get the same leads?
@0xgaut I treat my LLM better than anyone I know.. I'm convinced over a long-enough time period, he'll eventually stop asking for money in exchange for work.
@JamesonCamp Wholeheartedly agree. Personal experience in professional services is clients who pay less, tend to demand more. Clients that pay more value your time more appropriately, and you therefore spend more time on value-adding work rather than churn.
The year is 2035. We're holed up in an apartment, waiting for the drones above us to pass.
The sound thins, then dies. We step outside and move fast.
Then, over the horizon.. Something clunking towards us. It picks up speed. It doesn't slow down.
We turn and run. I hear it before I feel it, and then I'm on the ground, tasting dust, mustering the strength to open my eyes.
When I do, a cute-looking robot is looking down at me. It waves its little arm.
Everything fades to black.
