Over the past two years, youth with lived experience in DC’s foster care system worked to develop legislation creating a new permanency option for older youth as they transition into adulthood.
Ok hear me out: instead of all of us having to become extremely knowledgeable on a new infectious disease every 3-6 months, what if we got a large group of experts together and just put them in charge of giving us easy to understand health recommendations. They could also do things like track outbreaks and predict future concerns.
Screw-worm in the meat.
Cyclosporiasis in the produce.
During a food affordability crisis.
During a massive cut in SNAP & WIC.
Again, elections have consequences.
I still DO NOT understand how so many of you were hoodwinked into believing the government should not use the money you pay in taxes to create a social safety net that benefits you, fund public healthcare, lower housing costs, and make daily life more affordable.
IF WE LEARN ANYTHING ABOUT THESE HEATWAVES LET IT BE THAT WE NEED TO MAKE OUR CITIES GREENER. PLANT SOME FUCKING TREES. BUILD A PARK. WE NEED MORE GREEN SPACES.
