Nigerian government paying bandits is not a new news that began with Samaila Kaigama. Elrufai said it, Bashir Kurfi said it. Everyone knows it, people just don’t have the balls due to the fear of DSS.

1. Former Accountant General Ahmed Idris was charged with diverting ₦109.5 billion.

2. Former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman has been convicted over the criminal diversion of ₦33.8 billion.

3. Former Attorney General Abubakar Malami has forfeited 48 properties worth ₦212 billion.

4. Malami is also facing a 16-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering involving an alleged ₦8.7 billion, alongside his wife and one of his sons.

5. Just imagine, among the assets forfeited by Malami was a mosque in Kebbi State built with proceeds of illicit wealth. He doesn't have the fear of Almighty Allah.

6. Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele is facing multiple criminal prosecutions over diversion of ₦154.39 billion.

7. Emefiele has also forfeited 753 housing units to the Federal Government.

How this nation continues to survive such monumental looting across virtually every sector is mind-blowing. Until we fundamentally overhaul our criminal justice system and impose severe penalties for grand corruption, public office will remain an irresistible gateway for those who treat the public treasury as a private vault, while ordinary Nigerians continue to bear the brunt.

The way this man called Namadi Sambo quietly disappeared into private life when his boss Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 election needs to be studied.

After Jonathan lost, Namadi Sambo simply retired quietly to his private life. No noise, no endless political drama, no desperate hunger for power, no large appetite for ambition like some Vice Presidents would do. He just walked away peacefully and allowed history to take its course.

Till today, since 1999, Namadi Sambo remains the only Vice President who never attempted to become President after leaving office.

What a man of content.

Muslims were k'lled by terrorists in Kebbi State's latest attack just recently while observing fast, 34 victims; In another heartbreaking video armed bandits attacked an Army armoured carrier which was escorting motorists on Zamfara road. Two major headlines so far.

Now if these bandits were truly Muslim faithfuls why will they be k'lling their own people, and in such a holy month in Islam? Why aren't the bandits observing the Ramadan themselves?

Addressing this because a lot of people will rather pin this on religion instead of calling these people what they are, terrorists. Everyone is suffering from this insecurity crisis, no religion or region is exempted, no days off.

Look at the Old City of Kano, we used to read about in geography texts and Atlases.

Old, preserved, useful for societal interactions and keeping to tradition. A goldmine for anthropologists.

The British left the Old Kano with its walled cities intact and created New Kano with grid-patterned European areas.

Had the later authorities maintained city planning, Old City of Kano would resemble the old city of Fez in Morocco today. A tourist delight, yet maintaining its old legacy.

Now, think of American-trained capitalists in APC LAGOS, looking at Old City of Kano, and demolishing places like Kofar Matta dry pits outright, that have been in existence for 500 years, to create "21st century Mega-City" plans.

Even Turkey that has modernised has kept its Grand Bazaars running, maintaining sanity to it. They have been running since 1461.

Development shouldn't be so focused on extracting the highest possible returns, even if it means stripping people of all they have, no matter how wicked.

It should also focus on benefitting the people and growing their capabilities.

Think of organic growth too.
