@kent_carper @Otto_English And until 2015/16 we were being encouraged to by diesel cars as they were meant to be more environmentally friendly. Drivers of older cars are being punished for trying to do the right thing when the govt advice was wrong.

@kent_carper @Otto_English No one is saying we don’t need to tackle the issue - the problem is the policy solution is inherently punishing poorer people. If you’re loaded, you just buy a new car. Those that can’t afford a new car, and need it, will be the ones paying the ULEZ charge.

@Otto_English The problem is the extension. It’s suburbs where not inner city. And many families/workers rely on cars as they don’t have good transport links. And it’s the poorest car owners that can’t afford to upgrade
