Chyvonne Juanita Palmer, 43, was arrested after police say she attacked a Jewish man wearing a kippah inside the Starbucks at a Target on Biscayne Boulevard.

According to the arrest report, Palmer approached the victim, screamed at him and struck him twice with her cellphone, hitting his head and shoulder. She then grabbed a metal chair and advanced toward him while repeatedly shouting, “I hate them.”

Two bystanders intervened before she could strike him again. Surveillance footage captured the attack.

Palmer was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with prejudice and disorderly conduct. A judge ordered her released to a hospital for a mental health evaluation. She later posted bond.

A Jewish man was targeted in broad daylight for visibly being Jewish. Name her. Shame her. Never normalize antisemitic violence.
