SA banks excluded black entrepreneurs from the R200 billion Govt Covid-19 Loan Guarantee Scheme, distributing only R15 billion & favouriting white businesses. Economic Sabotage!

1. During lockdown, Govt availed R200bn Covid-19 Loan Guarantee Scheme to assist businesses.

2. Banks only used R15bn & 75% of that went to whites, only 25% went to blacks.

3. Banks never used the R185bn

4. Also Johann Rupert’s R1bn Covid-19 relief scheme, whites got 75% & blacks got 25%

5. Former finance minister Tito Mboweni said “it was SA’s banks that killed the govt’s Covid-19 Loan Guarantee Scheme.” Despite govt taking 94% risk, banks refused to lend.

6. Mboweni said when Ramaphosa tried to intervene "they basically told him that they are not going to do it"

7. Then black businesses were forced into bankruptcy. homes, cars & other assets were repossessed, etc.

8. Banks profited from auctioning black people’s assets.

9. These banks are: Absa, Bidvest Bank, FNB, Grindrod Bank, Investec, Mercantile Bank, Nedbank, SASFIN Bank & Standard Bank
