2030, is Spiritually the Year of Jubilee for Zimbabwe , politically it's Golden Anniversary Year of Independence calculated biblically as 7 ร 7 = 49 + 1 =50 - " The Acceptable Year of the Lord " ; Luke 4 :19 and Isiah 61 v 1-3.
So beginning in 2026 we kick off the countdown to a Jubilee Season - Hebrews celebrated it as the year when Debts would be canceled , slaves or prisoners set free and land returned to it's original owners.
It is also the Year when the United Nations caps off it's Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) - 17 of them , do we still remember them as we bicker over a two year Constitutional amendment to extend the life of a political administration to align with this international finishing line ?
The UN asked each country to pick its own goals and domesticate them to suit it's local agenda . This started in 2015 under the 1st Republic , later the 2nd Republic would pick a theme going forward which was the attainment of an
" Upper Middle Class" economy or status by the finishing year !
In my books this proclamation is what should have lead the #CAB3 objectives not as a hard bargain legislative agenda but an adminstrative concession to the government that should have been conferred by national dialogue , a political settlement than than point scoring requiring a referendum . We could have still achieved the same using a different route .
So perhaps there has been an oversight , a lapse in packaging which should have united a nation than divide it with everyone feeling a winner than leaving others feeling they have lost . The packaging would have been underpinned by a trade off of concessions , which gives a sense of national belonging from the very beginning than a bitter prescription to some .
In politics there is no substitute for experience, this perhaps is the take home lesson as I review this missed opportunity to unite Zimbabweans around it's Golden Jubilee , and it's not too late to polish the same and get it right . Unity is our greatest currency as a Nation .
Goodnight folks !
