A family paid for Disney+ for 3 years.

They watched Frozen twice. They rewatched The Mandalorian. The kids rotated between Moana and Encanto on a loop.

That was it. $575 spent. Same 10 titles.

Their uncle a former Disney streaming product manager who spent 4 years building the Disney+ interface sat down during a family visit, picked up the remote, and opened their account.

He went quiet for about 30 seconds.

"You're watching Marvel movies with 26% of the picture missing. There are R-rated films on this app you've never seen because a single setting is hiding them. You've never opened the Extras tab that has deleted scenes, bloopers, and behind-the-scenes footage for almost every major title. You're paying for Disney+ and Hulu separately when a bundle would save you $60/year. And your kids are on your profile destroying your recommendations while Disney literally built a kid-safe mode you never turned on."

He changed 10 things in 12 minutes.

The dad said "this feels like a completely different app."

The uncle said "it is. Disney ships the version that's safe for a 4-year-old by default. That means half the library is invisible, the best picture quality is turned off, and the features that make this a premium experience are buried 3 menus deep."
