He’s also one of the easiest to counter. He’s extremely weak to CC. You know the white fox charm will cancel his swing right? So does every other stun in the game. He still can’t even out damage the white fox sustain either. With the enhanced teamup. He’s great, but he’s not worth a nerf. Not as long as tenacity doesn’t seem to want to work anymore
I feel like I can’t even have fun this season. I don’t know what everyone else lobbies look like, but I’ve had like maybe a few games where it felt like a casual game. I’ll be solo queueing in quickplay and will be playing stacks of celestial and up who are using their champs or characters always banned. Then if I don’t pull out my main characters they just steam roll. They also counter swap like crazy this season. They play qp like money is on the line
Comp isn’t any better. Already got 5 throwers banned, and I haven’t even finished my placements.
Just so weird that a game catered to the casual players is just this sweaty for me. Do I have to have an alt account just to play in normal lobbies?

Adapt, react, and rule them all.
It’s not skill based matchmaking. They use a competitive score based matchmaking. If your competitive score is higher (based on how you perform every game) then you’ll get the players with the lower score to try and help them win. Meaning if you’re good, you’ll get bad players, and vice versa.
And yes, they literally state this in their breakdown of matchmaking. This isn’t copium, it’s how they’ve said their system works
@gypsi_rodeo@AlanSivirSmith@notLexa14 I would end every game on Mantis or Ultron with the most heals before this season. It’s not about the heal numbers on the scoreboard, it’s that they can’t consistently out heal damage. This is why I say Rivals is just filled with scoreboard watchers
It’s barely more strategic. It’s like people are not realizing what happened and how players are going to respond. People just got upgraded versions of their mains, for nothing. They don’t need any special team up, everyone has the team up already and the enhanced version aren’t so much better than people are swapping off their mains to be able to use it. If anything I see this making one trickers even worse. I know for example if I decide to play I’m 100% just using my most used characters.
@Deadeyedman0@hussain_jr10 Yeah pretty much. I don’t see a world where a Spiderman player (me included) would swap to a different damage to get an enhanced team up instead of just using the base team up for example.
The game is now promoting using whoever you want and still getting team up benefits
I’d be banning rogue before him. Because even without gambit she still has the base team up that the previously had ALWAYS active. Banning him because he gives enhanced ones isn’t the best because they’ll still all have super strong base ones.
Instead ban the characters that are actually broken with regular teamups in general
@Invismytea It’s a balance. You have to know when to attack, and when you should be healing. The problem comes from supports who will be doing damage while their team desperately needs heals
It’s not a bad take. While I don’t see her very often in my ranked games, I will say I’ve definitely died quite a bit in quickplay while I’m Magik or Spiderman just because of her auto aim. Her ult sucks just because of the amount of CC in the game tbh
Side note, I played Wanda a lot not too long ago and I just got so many MVPs. She’s just a super easy character and hitting her stun while spamming the secondary is honestly satisfying
@Rpm13823140@EchoRivals I can’t see the numbers for the first ones but here are the tournaments for 2017. A year after release when the game still only had 60-70k daily players TOTAL. The difference is insane. Biggest prize pool was $166k
@luckyraygun@Rpm13823140@EchoRivals I agree we need better drops but I think all that does is inflate numbers because the majority of us will just have it on a second screen with no sound. I don’t think it’s the fix for actually having people invested
Read my other comments and you’ll see the point of the comparison. Even comparing it to rocket leagues first championship back in 2016 when it was a small niche game is sad. 80k peak viewers for a $55k prize pool on a small game, rivals was an absolute huge release with more steam players than rocket league has EVER had, and during its first event it was only getting 80k viewers for a $1 million prize pool. It’s just not a good ratio
Yes drops are easily the thing to point out, but the balancing of the game is also to blame. You cater to the casual player base and yet still expect the competitive scene to be good? They all stay in Overwatch pros. Plus the skill gap for the pros in Rivals compared to the regular player is much much smaller than other games
I was only using it as a reference for size of game, reward pool, and size of the fans of the esports. Rocket Leagues for their first worlds (2016) still had more viewers/the same amount. Despite the reward being $55k, not $1 million like Rivals.
Then you can even compare the size of the game to audience ratio and it’s insane. Rocket League started as a tiny niche game back then. It didn’t get its first massive boost until 2020 when it went free to play. Even at Rocket Leagues highest, it barely touches what Rivals has today. Rocket League peaked on steam at 147k. Rivals? 644k. And that’s just steam numbers. PlayStation said they had 1.5 million weekly players, rocket league doesn’t even sniff that
My whole point was to bring up what a healthy esports looks like. Rivals having a $3.1 million prize pool, but only having 7k viewers is VERY BAD.
@Coheedthrice184@Tundenair I guess so bro, and by boycott I just mean I’m having more fun on other games currently and I’m just holding out for GTA as well. So I probably won’t play at all
Most high level Wanda’s I see usually run on their tanks hips. Her TTK is high and her movement isn’t as good. I don’t think that was their intention with her but if they are giving her tools to flank then yeah I agree she should get overshield. But she also has an incredible stun
@RogueMR_ Best patch would be them removing competitive score matchmaking. This one could be amazing, or absolutely awful. With everyone broken, it could expose how bad their matchmaking system is. The steamrolls could be worse
@bolsheevikatara@RogueMR_ Starlord is a flanking character lol. That’s how they intended for him to be. That’s why he has so much movement and insane drop off, now add the over shield like other dives
@magsidechick Wait is the gamma squid back? I used to run lobbies with that. Probably my most dominant season, even more than cyclops and I average over 30 kills every 10 on him lol
