When you travel to the West, one thing you observe is the basic standard of living.
Even many service workers and blue-collar workers own a car, wear decent clothes, branded shoes like Nike/Adidas, have access to good infrastructure, etc.
In many developing countries, some of these things are still considered a luxury for a large part of the population... Of course, owning branded shoes or a car doesn’t define quality of life. But the broader point is about how much of the population has access to a certain basic standard of living.
Maybe that is one of the biggest differences between developed and developing countries, not how rich the richest are, but how well the average person can live.
