CORE—the Central Ohio Radio Enthusiasts—are meeting on September 1st.
This month we have @marknoble KE8BZW presenting D-STAR: Digital Voice, Data, and Callsign Routing. Lot's of people have D-STAR-capable radios and have never used the digital features of them. Mark's life purpose is to change that.
D-STAR—Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio—is an open digital voice and data standard developed by the Japan Amateur Radio League. Rather than putting your voice on the air as analog FM, it sends a digital bitstream with a low-speed data channel riding alongside it, and it routes contacts by callsign instead of by frequency. Call another operator by their callsign and the network figures out which repeater to deliver you to.
Mark will introduce D-STAR from the ground up: what it is, where it came from, and how it compares to analog FM and to the other digital modes you'll run into on the air. He'll cover what it takes to get started—a radio, a registration, and either a repeater in range or a hotspot of your own—along with what the internet-linked reflectors make possible once you're on.
You should join us. The meeting is on Tuesday, September 1st. We're meeting at @CGI_Global's office in Westerville so props to them for letting us use their space well past business hours!
Details are in the link and please RSVP so we can make sure we buy enough pizza.

I left my Spaceballs-themed MUD CTF game up for everyone to play after @hthackers
Why a MUD? Because learning security is better when you're having fun in a world where the password is "12345" and there's no MFA.

@MandicReally I typically wait for you to review it first or if there are multiple videos about it. Yours carries a bit weight for me. Always appreciate your content!
@MandicReally Of these higher dollar replacements for the stock hot end I'm interested in which one is the one you'd recommend going with. I'm fairly new to 3d printing and I've yet to find a compiling reason to spend this kind of money. So, I'm interested in your take!
@jjbbllkk I'm not sure exactly how I stumbled across your channel but I'm glad i did. Yes you chose this, you had the courage to start it, and look where you are today. You earned that, nobody can take away what you've accomplished. I'll continue to watch your channel, its one of the best
@NYC__Native I'm a huge ambient fan so the fact that they lean pretty hard in to that style but then intertwine it with their own signature is phenomenal.
@NYC__Native I'd agree nothing really sounds like them, which i like but now I'll be hanging on everything they release since there isn't anything that really scratches the itch. Anyways, i really love the sound design they do, i think that's what i enjoy the most.
All Fart Pedal orders have shipped, and I have 49 left. I don’t like odd numbers. Quote tweet this with your favorite fart GIF. I’ll pick a random winner tomorrow and send them a FREE Fart Pedal! #TheFartPedal
@NYC__Native @KevinSh55218632@dbmagazine This is very well spoken. I'm glad he got help he needed. One of the things i love seeing mentioned in almost every article or post is let the people know around you that you care about them. It's a great thing to get in to a habit of doing and it goes a long way.
@NYC__Native I'm kinda surprised we haven't heard about KISS NFTs yet. Seems like they would have jumped on that boat before way before Ozzy did but Ozzy beat em to it. KISS is slacking in their golden years. Haha
