@professor_dave@DrAshleyNova @drewbiedoo72 As I understand it, this appeal was just about where GC counts as a protected philosophical belief. The finding was that yes, it does. The judges then tried to be super explicit that their ruling had no wider impact than that, and other questions would be settled by tribunals.
@pete_73101 @OwenJones84 Hard to tell in this case, because they haven't released numbers of tests conducted since the 23rd. However, up to that point, the percentage of tests coming back positive was increasing - so it's not just the fact of doing more tests.
@OwenJones84 Hard to know how to read the numbers at the moment due to the four-day weekend, and weekends always hitting numbers. Suspect we'll see some hideous figures for cases and deaths this week as the reporting catches up - but also depends how much testing happened on e.g. Xmas day.
@MrJalco Mine use to do this with the hoover when I vacuumed. She then moved onto following me around, continuing to drop fur behind me on the bit I just did. Now she doesn't even move, so I have to go around where she's lying...

@Tarsiussallius@Dave_Hone I did not seriously consider that they were a particularly Irish thing.
My grandparents emigrated over here when my gran got pregnant before they were married in the 50s!
@Dave_Hone Whole of my mum's side of the family is Irish, so grew up with the habit of supporting Ireland.
(Also in the process of applying to be entered into the foreign births register to actualise my potential Irish nationality currently - Irisih passport looking strong right now)
@BeesAndBaking@hammerheadbat Brother in law has now got back saying that he's never heard the term and comes from North Yorkshire.
He's also been quite disparaging about South and West Yorkshire but I wouldn't know about that :P
@BeesAndBaking Local dialect is fascinating. I'm going to have to ask my brother-in-law; he's from somewhere around those parts!
I always just called it a cash point :)
@BeesAndBaking See, I thought you were British, but then I looked at your profile and got misled by the location!
I've never heard 'Minibank', but assumed that it was supposedly British, given I'm not sure anyone has called the word ATM cute.
@carolecadwalla@chrischirp@AMCELL Just to say that you can still find the government numbers, and they seem a bit more consistent than scraping from the briefings (and do also show the tick up in cases) - they're published here: https://t.co/zrajGiPru9
@richardhorton1 An alternate explanation to Johnson's unusual seriousness - he appeared to still be short of breath/struggling to breathe, with loud inhales providing odd punctuation to his usual flow. If he's still very much in recovery and fatigued, this may have been genuinely hard work.
