Elijah Wood says his "Lord of the Rings" pay was not big enough where you could "rest easy for the rest of your life."

Orlando Bloom once said he was paid $175,000 for all three movies. Sean Astin said he got about $250,000. Wood said “it doesn’t matter” because the value “Rings” had his life is priceless. “Because we weren’t making one movie and then renegotiating a contract for the next, it wasn’t the sort of lucrative scenario that you could sort of rest easy for the rest of your life,” Wood said, referencing how Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema shot all three “Rings” movie at once, thus no contract re-negotiations for the actors based on box office.

Wood said New Line was able to take a “a real gamble” in part by offering “not massive salaries” to the actors. He added: “The benefit of that was that we were also signing up for something that was going to be a part of our lives forever.”
