Tj, the very same guy who abruptly went off the grid to unilaterally cut ian from the gang war and not take any chances (even shutting down ian’s own attempts to volunteer involvement) which even led ian to assume Tj no longer needed him, does not bear ANY responsibility for ian’s current situation.

The situation itself is a ramification of said gang war… triggered by a cancer stricken Jason, a k35 branch leader, finally dying, leading to a thoroughly inevitable succession battle ‼️

In this situation, Tj is nothing but yet another pawn stuck in the web. There’s been attempts on his head, be it from the authorities or from within the gang itself and still, he made a choice that was meant to shield someone else, IAN, rather than himself.

All while trying to live up to Jason’s expectations for him as his “heir”.

Tj was quite literally GROOMED for this by that man since his teenage years. The same man he, heartbreakingly enough, sees as a kind of father figure. Someone he respects.

The same man who altered the trajectory of his life, by selling him blissful dreams of grandeur, power & self sufficiency when in reality, he was buying his soul.

The same man who encouraged him to sacrifice his affections, the only source of warmth in his life since the tragic loss of his ENTIRE!!!! FAMILY IN A BRUTAL CAR CRASH AT AGE 9!!!! PARENTS! SIBLING!

The same man who blurred out what is actually essential in life, and geared him towards something else, something material and impersonal, all for the benefit of a cruel and unforgiving organization that takes far more than it ever gives.

This incessant knee-jerk reflex of blaming Tj for absolutely anything that goes wrong in the story is exhausting.

It’s critically reductive to the plot and characters. Blame him for things he’s actually at fault for, don’t make him the perpetual convenient scapegoat in a pathetic attempt to villainize him and strip him of any humanity in victimhood for the #agenda.

That being said, we also can’t possibly act like ian ending up at gunpoint and getting molested by a vile stranger, is him making a display of the glory of free will.

there’s something absolutely SOUL-CRUSHING about this situation. it’s quite literally plastered all over his face, his gaze, his entire aura, his thoughts.

he’s putting himself into a horrible situation, not because anyone directly forces him to but because he feels he has no other real choice.

If HE doesn’t act, OTHERS will suffer and HE LITERALLY‼️ CAN’T LIVE WITH THAT.

he went through with it, not willingly in the true sense but because the alternative is worse for someone else. for several others.

he wasn’t blackmailed or physically coerced… but he was severely morally and emotionally CORNERED. all his inner strength and his physical strength literally do not matter as they are rendered obsolete by the circumstances. Some wounds hurt more inside than they do outside.

This sense of responsibility has tugged at his heart since he was a child. IT IS NOT FREE WILL if a choice is made under extreme duress and a burden of consequences extending far beyond himself.

we are witnessing a deeply tragic sacrifice in the wake of what was a strenuous road to recovery, nothing LESS.

minimizing or dumbing down what ian is currently being subjected to, as a survivor of sexual violence and murder attempts that left him suicidal, is GROSS!!!!!! idgaf if he walked in there with his own 2 feet, he wasn’t driven by a real choice but an imposed, devastating compromise.

This fandom civil war stays being detrimental to the characters and the narrative alike.

contributing to NOTHING besides the promotion of a severely shortsighted understanding of the storyline, the characters, and a very shitty fandom experience for the (unfortunately) few readers who don’t feel visceral hatred for a rival pixel.
