Today is the anniversary of the legendary May 3, 1999 Moore, OK tornado. This tornado still owns the record for the strongest winds ever measured on Earth (~300mph).

I started this day as a storm chaser and student working on my Masters. I loved chasing so much. By the end of this day, I was not the same person. I saw destruction unlike anything I had ever seen. I could never get as excited to chase tornadoes again.

That tornado changed me and my career path. I felt a need to be on the front line helping and now you see me on TV when storms are approaching. Prior to this day, I don't think I fully processed the catastrophic impacts these storms have on people. On May 4th, I was different.
