Watching a documentary on pyramid schemes and the expert goes "in this case (LuLaRoe), the top 0.1% got an average bonus of $150,000 while the bottom 70% got nothing."
and I'm like, "dude, you are describing the capitalist system as it exists at most corporations"
I will never accept a system that enables 713 billionaires to add $1.8 trillion to their wealth in 16 months but doesn’t raise the $7.25 minimum wage for 12 years.
Serious question: How is increasing the minimum wage to $15/hour socialism, but corporations keeping wages low by forcing workers onto public assistance the free market?
Here’s what Jesus did NOT say:
Care for the sick, if it makes a profit.
Welcome the stranger, if they have the money.
Feed the hungry, who earns the food you’re giving.
Love your neighbor, when it’s good for the economy.
If we learn anything from this wretched pandemic, it's that:
1) Workers are always essential.
2) Healthcare is a basic right.
3) Conspiracy theories can be deadly.
4) The stock market isn't the economy.
5) Wages are too low to get by on.
6) Billionaires aren't the answer.
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone.
—Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953
Just to recap: Congress members who get $174k a year in publicly-funded pay, publicly-funded health care, publicly-funded pensions, publicly-funded travel, and unlimited publicly-funded vacation and sick time think $300 a week for unemployment is "too socialist."
