@Eli_Morgan1112 @rdryan33 It took Devellano 8 years to build a competitive team and 13 years to win a cup without a salary cap. The team was constructed through the draft which takes time. The 89’ draft alone was a risk that ended with tremendous reward. Getting Lidstrom in the 3rd, #91 4th, #16 11th.
@JohnRichTV Yup! Pretty fun playing a bunch of prebuilt players and skins. It’s basically mascots on ice at this point. Basically they took what used to be a game of skill and turned it to cater the kids with their parents credit cards. Grinding to get better in NHL 14 was the peak of it all

Steve Yzerman was asked if he has confidence in the trade market that he can get a top-six forward this offseason.
"Certainly something we're looking to address, to address or fill some of the positions we're looking at," he said.
Yzerman said he's only talked to two non-playoff teams, just in light conversations recently.
@11Jamsaw11@Klippy27@rdryan33 How long did it take Jim Devellano to build a consistent winner? Sure, they MADE the playoffs back then...with only 21 teams in the ENTIRE LEAGUE and 16 made the playoffs. The answer is 8 years WITHOUT a salary cap and only 21 total teams. 27-41-12 was playoff worthy.
