#BREAKING: Velshi: “What if I told you this? The Trump administraction had ALREADY spent 50 TIMES that much in taxpayer money to build his ballroom? What if I told you Trump had already taken $50 billion out of the U.S. treasury and spent it, all as part of what looks very much like a pay to play scheme to finance his vanity project? And I’m not making this up, a brand new report from the government watchdog group Public Citizen looked into the private donors who are supposedly funding the Trump ballroom as a gift. Guess what their investigation found? ‘More than half of the publicly identified donors…have won new or expanded federal contracts worth more $50 billion during the past six months.’ The report also found that most of the same companies are also facing federal enforcement actions over alleged wrongdoing and that some have had such actions suspended by the Trump administration since the start of Trump’s second term.”🙄
A UAE investor secretly gave Trump $187 million and his top Middle East envoy $31 million. And then Trump gave that investor access to sensitive defense technology that broke decades of national security precedent.
Brazen, open corruption. And we shouldn't pretend it's normal.
Keep posting this so nobody forgets that this was one of the worst events in American history.
Never has a sitting president encouraged his supporters to believe a lie so deeply that they’d be willing to attack or democracy.
Trump wants every federal worker to sign an NDA. The goal is exactly what it sounds like: silence the people inside government who see what’s actually going on.
If a federal employee witnesses waste, fraud, corruption, or abuse of power, an NDA makes it harder to speak out.
Trump has used NDAs his entire career to protect himself from the truth. Now he’s trying to use them on the entire federal workforce.
🚨 This Is What Journalism Looks Like.
Kristen Welker asked for evidence.
Trump attacked the media.
She asked again.
🔥 We need more reporters willing to keep pressing when powerful people refuse to answer simple questions.
The press isn’t supposed to be popular with politicians.
It’s supposed to hold them accountable.
@AliVelshi@11thHour You’re the best. I watched your goodbye speech— very moving. I loved how you framed it in the historical context in regard to what’s happening today and the importance of the first amendment.
Please watch this incredibly important video about Supreme Court cases that will absolve bribery and pay to play schemes in government—in essence they will permit corruption.
@maddenifico The only way our Country survives this Nightmare,
is for DonaldTrump and his entire corrupt administration to be removed!
@gtconway3d is Right!
At least 97 of the nearly 1,600 people who were charged in connection with the Capitol riot have been accused of new crimes since Jan. 6, 2021, according to a study released from @lawfare. @lukebroadwater https://t.co/KdixHNBElX
Saturday morning at 8:30 am ET, @ruthbenghiat joins me for the first conversation in my “Autocracy, Democracy, and Kleptocracy” series of live chats, as we approach the fourth anniversary of my newsletter, Civil Discourse. https://t.co/P0o5VK51wO
NEW: A stunning new project from @lawfare's Katherine Pompilio finds that 97 Jan. 6ers who received clemency for their role in the Capitol riot then got arrested, charged, and/or convicted with subsequent crimes—a number much higher than previously reported.
Pete Hegseth just removed 7 Navy officers from the service's one-star promotion list. One was reportedly singled out after her name appeared on a website identifying "woke" service members, for serving as a "diversity liaison" two decades earlier. That's not merit. It's a purge.
I swear to God we are living in Idiocracy. Everyday I think 'This can't be real.' But it is.
You couldn't write a satirical movie like the insane shitshow we are being forced to live through in real life.

Scott Pelley issues new statement after being fired by CBS for opposing their pro-MAGA bias:
“New management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them.
Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done.
Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.”
