"Our Letters, Our Lies" has made it into the hands of Bonnie, who also graces the cover. Huge thanks once again to Barbara of @BCB_Designs for crafting a great cover.
Have a great evening, kids.
Shane, for me it is an investment of time that is not worth the time. I reached out to Barbara of @BCB_Designs and she knocked it out of the park. The few shekels she charged me was well worth not having to invest my time in something that is not going to be a strength. My poor iPhone photo taking skills are in play here, but what she made are great. For me to waste an hour " learning" something I won't use again, it is easier to just toss over a few pesos and ensure it is done professionally. ( This is a double sided bookmark)
Kids, I know I should have posted on X to authors who are here to sell books, not buy them—because that’s the norm, right? However, my focus was on having a successful launch. The lead-up was interesting. I watched the preorders roll in over the course of a month, gradually lifting my book from five digits to three digits in the rankings. Today, I woke up to see it sitting in the top 80 of its category.
Yes, I was late to my own launch party—but hey...The launch party was a fascinating mix: people from the art community, authors, rock-and-rollers, bitter divorcées, moderators from some of NYC’s biggest book clubs( who came ready to buy), Wall Street folks, a radio personality who insisted on asking me absurd questions, a few gold-digging strumpets, and a healthy dose of regular folks. The band was kind enough to close the night with an “extra” set. That was my cue to make a graceful exit and disappear into the night—dodging 200 insincere goodbyes. Into the New York City night I went with a few close comrades, hopping from one after-hours spot to the next, until the sun finally rose and said, “Go home, you idiots.” As is the case whenever taking it from idea to release, there are many along the way to thank, too many to name. I'd like to take the time to thank @JWenner_Author for critical commentary and Barbara of @BCB_Designs for her cover work.
Look at that adorable cup and hardcover @ItIsJustPt sent me. 😍 Make sure you check out his books on Amazon! He has a new release, Our Letters, Our Lies, available for pre-order now.
Kids, thanks to Agnes Verona Oquendo, @JWenner_Author and Barbara of @BCB_Designs ( Barbara went so far above and beyond with covers and bookmarks, I can never say " thanks" enough) ..I managed to get my act together for a 6/21 release...spending the day sending a few hundred author copies to book clubs in NYC, Fort Lauderdale, San Diego and a small town outside of Boston called Duxbury ..then I have to get to reviews for @E_R_A_writes and @R_R_Hutchinson ..
Have a great Sunday...and call your sister( or your brother) I did, and my day instantly became much better...make the call...no excuses..do it...
Kids, the journey from idea to finished product ends with our name on the cover—but many others deserve recognition for their contributions along the way, and I’m here to embarrass a few of them. Thanks to @JWenner_Author, to Agnes Oquendo (who wisely left X—because she’s clearly smarter than the rest of us), and to Barbara of @BCB_Designs who endured countless cover revisions and tweaks, yet for some reason still continues to accept my business.
Have a great Thursday.
@ItIsJustPt Jeez, you went through the ringer with formatters. 😳 The sad part is all that could have been avoided if people treated this industry with more professionalism.
@SilverGill47@Kristen_Painter I understand about the prices and as not only a book cover designer but an author, I get it. I work with many new authors and keep my prices lower without sacrificing quality. My client base is small but very loyal. I will with you about pricing.
If you need any designs done. I am booked through February. However, please contact me using my profile for information and questions. #bookcoverdesigner
