Things not measured that matter:
Teacher inspires student who later embarks on a uni course and future career because of that teachers subject enthusiasm (no evidence to show at the time)
Teacher who helps a student at school who was getting bullied to gain in confidence, in hindsight this is a turning point in their life (no evidence to show at the time)
Teacher who is a role model, almost like a parent in the childs life, over many years - this influences who they are as an adult (no evidence to show at the time)
Teacher consistently makes kid(s) laugh on days when they really were hating life, helps them through school years (no evidence at the time).
Teachers high expectations and routines facilitate the student to have high expectations and routines themselves later in life (no evidence at the time)
Wait - seemingly no *value* at the time. All I see is progress 8 this, exam results that. But these things matter. Teachers who do this stuff matter and yet the profession is on its knees because far too many of these teachers leave without a shred of any recognition. Others take it for the stuff that is measurable, but often highly flawed and subjective.
Happy holidays.
Great community win for the Huskies! Coach Dixon has done a tremendous job bringing that community excitement back and we are excited for the future!

Highly grateful for the opportunity to attend the first ever ACEE conference this past Saturday and make another friend in CUSD. Gained insightful tools and resources to enrich my classroom with deeper economic understanding with innovative student engagement! @AzCouncilEconEd
Hey world! I know these extraordinary students! 🧑🏻🏫

Excited and grateful to be a part of the team representing our district and presenting our team data at the National DBQ Summit!
Do you DBQ?! We do.
In grade two, I loved reading. It was a passion. I’d skip recess to read.
When NCLB and Accelerated Reading (A.R.) started in grade three, I lost that love. Books were a task.
I’m happy to say, I’ve moved passed the A.R. trauma. My love for reading has returned. #SummerReads
A truly kind human who not only impacted my teaching practice, but who’s words as another pool manager gave me the best years I could’ve wished for as a pool manager myself. This hits deep.
Mesa High lost one of the greatest coaches, teachers, and friend on Thursday. Coach Mike Haney was an AMAZING man that left us way too early. We are forever grateful for him and all he did for Mesa High and Athletics! Thank you Coach Haney, you will be greatly missed💜💛💜💛
Rules tell students what not to do, which is important. But, procedures, routines, expectations, and responsibilities teach students what to do, which is even more important!
