Some quick thoughts re: BC's conservative movement.

I don't believe BC can have an electable Conservative government unless it's done with a big tent party. I'm not pleased to admit this, but I believe it's true.

I'm angry about purity testing within the movement, whether that's coming from the "centrists" or those who are more "right"/more concerned with "culture war" issues. It seems a lot of people have lost sight of the goal, which is defeating the (horrible, atrocious) NDP.

There's plenty of blame to go around for the current disarray within Findlay's party: there are centrists who refuse to give her leadership a chance; there are a few who genuinely didn't seem aligned with the party (big or small tent); and there have obviously been mistakes made by KLF, including with messaging to the public. I don't know what to make of the various allegations re: staffers, hires, fires etc. -- but it's obviously affecting MLA confidence.

The party will be cooked if it insists on only having staff/MLAs who are fully in alignment re "culture war" issues. Having gone through nearly a decade of trying to talk to others and change their minds about gender ideology, I've learned that you must use kid gloves with most people when you're talking to them about ideas that can get one cancelled.

There's an epidemic of cowardice when it comes to defying the woke status quo of BC institutions. Too many are too weak to stand up for what's right. Others still don't understand the issues fully but can be persuaded, if they don't get spooked.

It would be incredible if there was a critical mass of BCers ready to flip a switch and denounce toxic identity politics. We aren't there yet. Bringing sanity back to this province will require slow, careful work. The party needs to unite a big tent, and everyone inside needs to get their shit together and get along for the sake of this province and its voters.

Small update… I was at his sentencing hearing today and I’d like to summarize the closing arguments for you.

Prosecutor: “He has 43 (!!!) separate past convictions. He really needs to go to jail.”

Defence: “He is black, and jail makes black people sad.”

I wish I were joking.

The judge has now called for a two week recess to consider these arguments and determine a sentence.

CBC recently ran a “miracle” story about surgeons operating on a baby inside his mother’s womb at 26 weeks.

The groundbreaking surgery put baby Theo’s intestines back inside his body. He’s now five months old and thriving. Thank God.

Then the @CBC edited the piece to replace “unborn baby” with “fetus” and called Theo an “it.”

New headline: “Fetus has pioneering surgery inside the womb.”

Subheadline: “Operation was to treat fetus that had intestines growing outside of its body.”

I wish this were a joke. The CBC is so desperate to defend abortion ideology that it cannot even use the word “baby” while telling a story about a life being saved in the womb.

It even issued a correction for calling Theo a baby:

“This story has been edited to refer to a fetus rather than an unborn baby.”

The real story is a newsroom so captured by wokism and radical feminist abortion politics that it cannot describe a child being saved without first stripping him of his humanity.

The ideology became the story. The fact that they had to “correct” the word baby tells you everything.
