Tomorrow we're taking part in a 24 hour chess tournament to raise money for the British Red Cross. Over the 24 hours there will always be at least 1 of our students playing. If you would like to sponsor us please check out our JustGiving page. Thank you https://t.co/cELmwSJZXp

@NeillCooper @ECFSchools @ecfchess @schoolschess @robinslade65 @GM_RayKeene @ChessEnglish @ECFonlinechess @Mvdsedberghsch1 Thanks for arranging these! They're always really great and we're pleased to see that they'll be carrying on even after lockdown as it was a great way to bring all those enthusiastic students together!

Also pictured is Kevin, who is yet to lose a game for Blue Coat! He came away with a marvellous 3/6, but is taking credit for Fred's victory given his role as Fred's official cheerleader. These two are wonderful young advocates for chess.

An amazing night for Juniors at @liverpool_chess's annual Frank Ryan & Billy Cooper Memorial Blitz Handicap tournament! The juniors came away with some huge scores, not least our very own Fred who came joint first (drawing with Roger Williamson!) with 5.5/6, outstanding!

2 of our students gave up their Sunday to help support @CSCMerseyside and @liverpool_chess at #LiverpoolChessFest on Sunday. They took part in simuls, supported junior coaching, took on masters in blindfold games and were amazing ambassadors for chess on Merseyside.

Last week 5 BC students represented Merseyside in an online counties event. Each came away with great scores, helping Merseyside place higher than they had in previous years. We haven't been able to meet this year so well done to these students for continuing to pursue chess!!!

We're losing two of our amazing captains this year as they move on to the next stage in their exciting young lives. Miss L and Mr H can't express how much these two contributed to the club and how much they will be missed. Good luck P and S, we hope you will come back to visit!

[The Blue Coat School @LiverpoolBCS]

We'd like to introduce you to the Class of 2021, our newest cohort of Old Blues!

We wish you all the very best of luck as you embark on the next exciting phase of your lives and we look forward to welcoming you back on July 14 for your Celebration Event! https://t.co/M4NGnswL6s

@NeillCooper @lichess @ECFSchools @ECFonlinechess @BritishChess @chesstutor We will have to sit this one out I'm afraid Neill as Miss L has rather stupidly double booked herself for that time but we can't wait for the next one after half term! We are really enjoying them and super grateful to you and your fab volunteers for running them :)

[Liverpool Blue Coat School Chess Club @BCSLChess]

@LiverpoolBCS Macedonian flag and Seychelles flag were always favourites of mine Miss B! Loved your collection, you must have so many amazing tales from your travels :)

Are we really looking forward to the Inter-School Lichess tournament later this evening and hoping that we can maintain our run of podium finishes? There's only one appropriate response....

[Liverpool Blue Coat School Chess Club @BCSLChess]

FRIENDSHIP!!! The friendship aspect is huge. My favourite thing about our school club is seeing all those friendships being forged, especially across different year groups and key stages!

We should 100% say thank you to the fantastic volunteers from the ECF and beyond who frequently give up their time to make these great opportunities available to our students. We are missing OTB chess but there are SO many great alternatives being arranged by amazing people!

On Friday 6 of our students participated in a fantastic online event for secondary schools. We came 2nd after some fabulous matches and well done in particular to one of our Year 8 students who finished top of the leaderboard for the whole event.

It has been quite some time but we are looking forward to competing in the Inter-School September team battle this evening. Forgive us if we are a little rusty though, it's been a long summer!
