@DetroitRedWings Had the pleasure of watching last nights Red Wings game in Chicago. Wings dominated the second period without scoring, but demonstrated the kind of puck control that made past crews champions. Then Raymond had a standout 3rd period. This year will be special to watch.
My first attempt at French Macarons, this version was a strawberry shell with a strawberry buttercream filling. I need to improve my piping skills, any suggestions welcome. But these delicate little cookies are delicious.
Back to basics with this Lemon Meringue Pie from my new King Arthur’s Baking Companion. I was pretty happy with the insides, but somebody’s going to have to teach me how to make a decent pie crust. I am afraid to cut this.
@JonStewart was honored with The Mark Twain award by The Kennedy Center last night. They could not have chosen a better recipient. Like Twain, Mr Stewart has made us laugh even while he makes us think. His work will remain a great legacy for generations.
@DisneyFoodBlog We rode every ride, I can still only guess at what it must be like to eat at Space 220. Scored some good ADR’s, family favorites like Be Our Guest, Yak & Yeti, Chef’s of France and Prime Time Cafe but always harder to get new dining experiences than getting on new rides.
@Walgreens. What terrible service making customers check out for prescriptions in back, then again for my couple other items up front. The guy in front of me either put his items back or left without paying for them.
This weeks bread project was New York style bagels. Used a recipe from the New York Times. I went too heavy on the Everything seasoning, and I think I would prefer a smaller thicker bagel. Good first attempt, and I learned a lot for next time.
Just a friendly reminder that there is already an actual team sport in figure skating where an entire team skates on the ice together at one time.
It's called #synchronizedskating! And it deserves to be the actual team event in the Olympics. #WhyNotSynchro@OTMvmt@GetItCalled
This week’s bread experiment was homemade English Muffins. Who knew you could make these on the stove? They taste great just after they cool down so you can break them apart with a fork.
Put a new twist on my old cinnamon roll recipe. Each is cut, braided and rolled individually. Then they’re covered with a simple syrup and powdered sugar instead of a frosting. Gives a beautiful finish and they are delicious.
Bread making picks back up this winter as I tried to make my first Babka. Over baked it a little and I think my marbling technique still needs more work. Tastes pretty good, but I have never really had Babka before to compare it to.
@ewarren It would also invalidate the choices and sacrifices my family made to not incur such debt. This is why I couldn’t support you in the primaries, and how I might have to reconsider Republican candidates I have never supported.
This weeks bread is a Country Parmesan and Cracked Pepper loaf from the cookbook I got for Christmas. I think it turned out really well. Interesting taste.
This weeks bread was sour dough, which I turned into bread bowls. I scored them a step too early which lead to funny tops, but they served their purpose well. Thanks #halfbakedharvest for the recipe.
