Y5 have been learning about asexual reproduction in plants and have been fascinated with how our mint clipping has grown roots over these five weeks just with water and sunlight.

In Y5, our #RE question over terms 5 and 6 is 'How do people express their religion through the arts?' They have enjoyed designing and colouring their own mandalas this week. Their designs featured their hopes, dreams and worries. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek#creativity
Y5 were fascinated by some responsibly-sourced coral that they examined today in their #Geography lesson. They have carried out research about The Great Barrier Reef, its significance and why we should protect it. @kapowprimary#oceans#wildlife#coral
Y5 have been taking advantage of the weather this term. Our highlights so far have been break times on the field including some children making their own see-saw, our athletics lesson refining our triple jumps and cloud watching, taking notes to inspire our writing in English.
Year 5 had a super day at @SkegGrammar today. They enjoyed PE, History, Science, Art and an 11+ taster session. Thank you to all the staff and 6th form student volunteers for making our day an enjoyable one!
Y5 held a 'Join In' afternoon for parents and carers to help kick start their new topic: Why do oceans matter? Our question today was 'How do we use our oceans?' where we found out about how they are used as trading routes. @kapowprimary#geography#computing
Y5 have started their new #Science topic 'Living Things and their Habitats' by learning how to dissect #flowers. They categorised and compared the reproductive parts of three different flowers. @kapowprimary#plants
Y5 will be sad to get to finish their #History topic this term: 'What can we learn about life in Tudor England?' Here, they have been looking at Tudor inventories to make deductions about the lives and wealth of the people from those times. #historylovers@kapowprimary
Some pupils in Y5 have been enjoying their new 'The Story Corner' issue from @BookmarkCharity at break times. Thank you for this brilliant resource! We will also be taking part in online activities in class next week. #literacy#YoungReaders#LoveReading
Y5 have been enjoying their #netball sessions with @JBSportCoaching this term. Over the last two weeks, we have seen their passing, invasion and footwork skills develop. They are also beginning to take on #games using the whole court and its areas. #fitness#sport#PE#skills
Y5 have been learning about #solubility in #Science. We tried to #dissolve different materials in water to see which ones would make a solution. We also set up an #experiment to make sugar crystals, so will be watching that closely over the next few days.

For @WorldBookDayUK Y5 joined the BBC live lesson. We also read Beware of the Bears. Some people wrote a sequel and others wrote alternative versions: for example, 'Robotlocks and the Three Bears' and 'Gamerlocks and the Three Bears'. We can't wait to see them on display! #read
Well done to our Year 5 pupils who took part in the Bikeability sessions this week. They all earned their badge and certificate for their road safety and cycling skills!
Y5 have chosen their own book for our daily class #reading time. Three pupils pitched their choices brilliantly to the class for a vote. One of the choices will be available with your World Book Day token on 6th March. #democracy#WorldBookDay
Y5 created some super #poetry today in #English! They pretended to be Henry VIII #writing a Valentine poem for each of his wives. Some children also wrote replies from each wife too. They certainly had the rest of the class and the adults in stitches! #History#ValentinesDay#fun
