Clarington Emergency & Fire Services on scene of a working fire on King St W between Scugog St and Silver St, in downtown Bowmanville around midnight yesterday morning. Pump 10, first in on an apartment fire on the top floor of a three story mixed occupancy building. Crews met with heavy fire in the rear of the building extending above to the roof top.
Crews backed out and went defensive as conditions rapidly deteriorated. Commercial businesses 69, 73, 75, 75A, as well the apartments on both floors above heavily impacted.
Eventual fire extension into the cockloft of exposure 4 building, a 3 story similar construction adjacent to the original fire building. Interior crews made brief entry before being backed out, following fire breaching through the roof. Commercial businesses 77, 85, as well the apartments on both floors above heavily impacted.
Defensive, and aerial operations on both buildings. Aerial Tower requested from @OshawaFire. 1 person remains unaccounted for. OFM notified
