GERMANY MOVES OPPORTUNITY CARD APPLICATION TO FULLY DIGITAL PROCESS
Germany has reportedly transitioned its Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) application process to a fully online system, allowing applicants to complete submissions digitally through German consular platforms.
What has changed
Applicants can now:
● Create a secure online profile.
● Upload supporting documents digitally.
● Book biometric appointments online.
● Track application status in real time.
This replaces the previous system that relied heavily on in-person appointments and manual scheduling.
What this means:
The shift is aimed at reducing delays and improving processing efficiency, especially in high-demand countries where appointment backlogs previously slowed applications.
For Nigerians and other African applicants:
Easier access to application submission
Reduced waiting time for appointments (in principle)
More structured and transparent process
Stronger reliance on correct digital documentation
Why this matters
The Opportunity Card is a key pathway for skilled migration to Germany, and this digital shift could improve access for applicants in high-demand labour markets, including Nigeria, where waiting times have previously been long.
Note on verification
This update is based on reported mobility and consular system changes and should be treated as a developing policy update pending full official confirmation from German federal migration authorities.

“These people are manufacturing these products (mattresses), selling them cheap, which is affecting fair trade. Other companies that we are aware of, major companies, cannot compete again because the material that they are using is substandard and cheap. So they will price their products cheap, then you and I, my sister, your mother in the village, will go and buy them. When you sleep on them and wake up, you have back aches. These are the causes of it.” — Clement Kwolaga Kubati, Greater Accra Regional Manager of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), on the closure of a mattress manufacturing company at Afienya near Tema in the Greater Accra Region for producing with substandard materials.
Driven by curiosity after the Ghana Standards Authority cracked down on several mattress manufacturers for non-compliance and the use of substandard materials, a couple was shocked to discover that their supposedly new mattress is made of a large floral foam board instead of proper mattress materials.
In a viral video, the couple claims they had been suffering from constant body pains despite buying the mattress brand new.
