@shebringsjoy We were members of an LCMS church when we got married. We had to pay to have our reception in the church and also a "tip" to the pastor. I can't tell you how much of a turn off this was, being young and poor, a member of the congregation and being forced to pay to play.
@HandyGingerGal I tried asking for my grandmother's bean recipe once and was told there isn't one, she would just throw stuff together. Asked for my aunt's Carmel roll recipe and got told to just make my dough like normal and use ice cream to make the topping. Not helpful....
@annbauerwriter I've been trying to get through Brothers K for months. Can only handle a couple of chapters at a time. It's so dense and philosophical I don't know how it's even possible to want to read it that quickly.
Saving this. Currently in a beef with our HOA about our dog's tie out. I need to shorten it significantly because the neighbor *might* complain about it. In the 6 years we have had our dog, he never has. This is all because the other neighbor is a psycho boomer.
@terminelogy@KeliRabon I mentioned this to my husband - I think it's super weird. I've never heard any Christian refer to Jesus in conversation as "The LORD" as she always says. This is on top of always referring to Charlie as "my husband" and never by name. It's so strange
@jameszimmermann Embarrassing is a good word for this. The choir I'm in has performed some more recent DEI based pieces that are truly terrible. No key signatures, no true melody, chord structure that doesn't make sense and doesn't move in a way that is expected. It's not fun anymore.
If you're wondering if referencing publicly available information like district financial data requires prior submission into the board packet, it in fact, DOES NOT.
The open meeting law reference is Minnesota Statutes § 13D.01, subd. 6..
Upon first read, it may seem like it would be a requirement, however, documents a board member simply knows about or pulls from the public district website do not automatically trigger this. No law forces every possible public reference into the packet, otherwise packets would be hundreds of pages long.
It may be wise to inform board member Dustin Smith and the @isd719 board as a whole that publicly available information can be referenced without prior submission into the agenda, and that sometimes they just simply need to by dynamic in what they discuss.
That and respecting others' opinion and voice goes a long way....

@BraneDamaged@CrimeWatchMpls It's not - it's a very well known Christian ministry where you can pack meals to be sent to hungry kids all over the world. Google is your friend. https://t.co/hUB20y1dE4
@CrimeWatchMpls Husband is a paramedic and he complains about these group homes daily. Most residents are not getting the care they need and should be in larger residential facilities. Really a waste of taxpayer money.
The term "theological liberalism" is thrown around a lot.
When push comes to shove though, it still boils down to Richard Niebuhr's summation of what theological liberalism truly is: "A God without wrath brought men without sin into a kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross" (Kingdom of God in America, 193).
Liberal/progressive Christianity is more than that but it is no less than that, and it will always come down to it. Niebuhr's words 89 years ago are just as applicable in 1937 as they are today.
@BlueBoxDave@BritHugoboom I have a music degree - would love to attend more orchestra/opera/ballet concerts, but the music has become so politicized, it's not welcoming to conservatives. Even the choir I sing in performs more modern virtue signaling trash that I took a break.
@steelers0521@julie_kelly2 Those of us paying attention are. It's only being reported on in alternate media so the vast majority of people have no idea this is going on.
New from Haaretz: "Terror Was Needed to Make Arabs Leave: What the Israel Army Did in 1948, Reaveled"
A (literal) document dump exposes the use of terror and mass murder by the IDF to "cleanse" Israel of Palestinians, upending Israel's founding narrative.
