"We never want to take away any of these guys' natural playmaking ability or their vision. He's heard it out of my mouth now for a few years going back to Detroit, so there's a lot of confidence in how he's seeing it. There's some things that came up in the game that aren't exactly how we coach it, and yet when I watch it, I see his perspective: “I see the color that you're seeing as well, so I understand why you bounced it.” The more we talk through it, the better we'll be."

Ben Johnson on D'Andre Swift's Growth:

"I've always seen him as more of an all-purpose back than putting any certain type of label on him. People sometimes put him in a box as more of a scat-back type, but he's really an all-purpose back as far as I'm concerned. He's willing to go for those hard yards and run in between the tackles. He can put his shoulder down, drive the pile, and yet he still has the speed to be an explosive play on the perimeter as well. I'm just really proud of how he's grown. He's earned that contract. The way he works and goes about his business is exactly what we want to be about."

Ben Johnson on the Run Game & Caleb Williams’ Scramble Threat:

"It starts with the O-line, always, but the tight ends and receivers played a big part of the explosive runs as well. We're further along right now than where we started a year ago in terms of that running game. In terms of Caleb, there's a couple times where we don't have the best call on for the defensive coverage, and this is the marriage between the play call and our quarterback. He's decisive and really fast. We trust him to know when those times are, and we think it's really, really dangerous for our offense."

Ben Johnson on Scoring more Touchdowns and keeping the Gas on:

"We needed it, the game was still back and forth at that point. Anytime you're still within a couple scores in the fourth quarter, the game is still on. I forget what time it was when we took the field for that last drive, but it was, “Guys, we want to finish the game with the ball.” We ended up getting to pop one through and Swifty scored there at the end. I thought they did a really good job in the fourth quarter pressing on the gas. We went into the game with a lot of respect for how well Carolina could play in the fourth quarter. We knew we couldn't let off the gas."

"It was kind of the vision when I took it over a year and a half ago. I kind of had that in mind, that being kind of our thing. And so, no, nothing really discouraged me away from doing that. I think it's a great message. I think it's a good rallying cry for us, and I think the guys enjoy it."

"I was really proud of the team, the way they came out and fought for 60 minutes on the road like that. Tough conditions, weather of course played a factor. Despite a long, tough training camp, it's hard not to allow heat like that to fatigue you to a degree, so we had to fight through that. Week 1 in the NFL is always interesting across the league, so it's really encouraging to see our crew find a way regardless of circumstances. We know we've got a tough task ahead, a division opponent at home in the Minnesota Vikings, so we'll be turning the page quickly."
