This is a long and heavy post, but if you’ve got a minute, please read it all.

My birthday is coming up on June 8th. And right around that same time, I may lose my job. I found out recently that I might be let go in the next few days, maybe before my birthday, maybe on the day itself. I honestly don’t know which morning it’s coming, and that not-knowing is its own kind of weight.

I made a mistake at work. I’m not going to lay out every detail here, but I’ll say this much. It wasn’t something I did to benefit myself, and I wasn’t acting on my own. Things went a certain way, and now I’m the one carrying it. That’s the part that’s hard to sit with.

Here’s the reality underneath all of it. We are already struggling. We’re about $40k in debt and have been holding things together by a thread for a long time. This job is a big part of what keeps us afloat. If I lose it, things get very hard very fast, rent included. This could genuinely be the thing that breaks everything we’ve been fighting to hold up.

I’m not writing this for pity. I’m a worker. I show up, I put my head down, and I do what needs to be done. I’m not afraid of long hours or hard days. All I want is a chance to keep standing on my own two feet and dig my family out of this hole.

So I’m putting it out there, hoping it reaches the right person somewhere.

If you or anyone you know is hiring, I’m available right now. I’ll work hard, I’ll learn fast, and I’ll do whatever it takes. Point me at the work and I’ll do it.

If you’ve been through something like this and have advice, a lead, or even just a word, I’m listening.

And if anyone is in a position to help in any other way while I get back on my feet, I won’t turn it down. Pride doesn’t pay rent, and I’ve made peace with asking.
