🇬🇧 As a mixed-race Briton, I’ve felt increasingly depressed watching what’s happening to our country.

I don’t recognise it anymore. Citizens turning against citizens. Reactions to horrific crimes differing depending on who committed them. Innocent people being targeted because they share the same skin colour, ethnicity or faith as a criminal.

Britain is better than this.

This unqualified bore says his secondhand opinions are “not up for debate.” Yes they are. At a university all opinions are up for debate. If you cannot defend your opinions rationally, either they are indefensible or you are too stupid to defend them. In either case you have no right to force them on students who have expressed their wish to attend a lecture by doing so.

Why can't Starmer stop this? This is Leeds University, not an Al-Qaeda training ground. Students here are pressured to believe that their education in medicine, law, or graphic design means nothing unless they devote themselves to defending Hamas and the October 7 attacks in Israel. Parents send their children to university to study medicine, engineering, law, and science, not to be indoctrinated by political extremists. Across parts of Britain and Ireland, Muslim Brotherhood-linked activism has turned some campuses into platforms for ideological recruitment.

Universities should be places of learning, debate, and critical thinking, not factories for radicalization. You pay tens of thousands in tuition fees expecting doctors, engineers, and entrepreneurs. Instead, too many parents are watching their children emerge as Islamist activists consumed by extremist politics.

Education should build futures, not manufacture division.

The Conservatives in Bradford have called an Extraordinary Council Meeting. Scheduled to take place at 4pm on the 24th June, the purpose of the meeting is to demand that the National Inquiry into the Pakistani Rape Gangs is forced to investigate what took place in Bradford.

Between the Conservatives and Reform, they have the numbers to pass the motion. Whatever their political differences, they will be forced to work together on this and prevent Labour from trying to block Bradford's inclusion from the national inquiry.

Well done to every one of you whose pressure made this happen. It is a massive step forward.

Now, if it was me drafting this motion, I would push it much further than just writing a letter to Longfield. I'd corner the National Inquiry and make them squirm. I'll share more in this evening's broadcast.
