I believe as geography teachers, we need to move discussions forward from data presentation ("I drew a line graph as I had two sets of quantitative values") to data visualisation - how we convey with compelling clarity the message in the data.

A lesson from my Mom, Jeanne's art studio: how to use our vision fully and reduce the bias of motivated seeing. Look at the image or picture, interpret, and explain what you see to your friend/painting buddy. Then, turn it upside down and look, and interpret again. Explain again.
