@OdessaCollege I have been fortunate enough to be part of 2 very incredible teams here at OC. When you spend as much time with coworkers as we do during/after work hours, they become family. Knowing that we can shift from the professional to the personal and back when needed is a blessing!
@OdessaCollege I would like to see more community members actually, physically, get involved in improving our community. People are quick to share GRAND ideas of what could be... but also quick to make excuses when asked to actually help make it happen. Gotta put in the work to make it happen.
@OdessaCollege Every time one of our OC team members says "we need some help with...". Preview Days at area Elementary Schools and on Campus, OC Downtown events, Graduation Ceremonies, Community Fun Days... The work that we do at OC really does take a village and the OC Family is here for it.
@OdessaCollege Odessa College gives our community members a safe space to grow without judgement - physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially. It gives them a place to learn how to better support and enhance themselves, their loved ones and our community without leaving it. #OCXchange
@OdessaCollege One key element that allows a community to thrive is it's members having a sense of safety & security - physically, financially and socially. If people don't feel safe and comfortable engaging with and being part of the community, working and playing, they won't do so. #OCXchange
@OdessaCollege Communication, soft skills, critical thinking, computer skills - OC offers individual certificates and pathways that can accommodate almost anything that the workforce is in need of.
@OdessaCollege One way that I have seen OC positively impact our community's workforce is by helping our companies and businesses grow their own. They send their employees here to develop their knowledge and skills rather than struggling to create and fill an excessive number of new positions.
@OdessaCollege Having a strong local workforce increases production and opportunities for new, innovative ways of improving the community. #TweetOC#OCAllIn#OCXchange
A strong community college can help develop it's community. Whether it be through full AS or BAAS programs in business/industrial/social science or through industry specific continued education programs that help develop on the job trainings. All of which improves area workforce.
Difficult moments are just that- moments. Things don't always work out like we plan. Live it, learn from it, adjust as needed, and keep moving forward. #TweetOC#OCXchange
Oooph... I struggle with giving myself grace and, more often than not, am harder on myself than I probably should be. But I try to be consistent in reminding myself that the big picture needs to focus on Progress NOT Perfection. #OCXchange#TweetOC
I tend to give them some space to have their feelings, vocalize their concerns, and vent it out, then I hit them with the "YES, this/that situation/person sucks, BUT ... *insert positive way of viewing situation or learning moment*". My husband's not a fan of this one... 😆
Positivity, to me, is not only smiles and good vibes. It's also the ability to make lemonade when life hands you lemons. Finding the good and the potential in tough times and difficult situations. #TweetOC#OCXchange
@OdessaCollege My goals always tend to be wellness and educational. Not necessarily in the form of structured education, but through reading/listening/watching things I'm unfamiliar with or need to broaden my view or knowledge of/on. #TweetOC#OCXchange#OCAllIn
