My books read in July! Book for learning was 'Classroom Vibe' by Timothy M. O'Leary. Great insights on classroom culture and the positive impact of teacher clarity and teacher credibility. Book for fun was an old book of my mothers and she passed on to me when I was a teenager.
Happy Australian Primary Principals Day - 7 August 2026 to all my principal colleagues across NSW! Let's celebrate the extraordinary work led by principals in our primary schools & acknowledge the positive impact of your collective work on the lives of students.
Lovely gifts, treats, notes, drawings and cake today for Australian Primary Principals Day π
I'm full of joy...and sugar! π

Sticking with my goal of reading 2 books per month. One for enjoyment & one for learning. I've enjoyed another book by Jennifer Saint & hopeful to read more of her works. I saw Ben Sacco at the QASSP conference & he is just as passionate in his book as he is in person ππ #read
Books I read in May.
Sapiens was a big read - so much history!
This was my second time reading the graphic novel rendition of To Kill a Mockingbird. If you enjoy the movie adaptation then you will enjoy this version. The illustrations take you right into the scenery & script. π
Our latest podcast episode is out now! @JJarvis1 is joined by the wonderful @misterwootube for a two-part exploration of how building the collective expertise of teams supports explicit teaching. Lots of great tips for all teachers and school leaders!

In 2012, I left my principalship with one main ambition: keep my family fed.
Today, Real Schools supports 376 schools, 18,000 teachers and 170,000+ students across Australia & NZ.
Still canβt quite believe it. Very grateful for the tribe white-knuckling the future alongside me.
See image for my April book update. X doesn't give me enough text space and I will not minimise my adoration for Sam Neill's memoirs β₯οΈ I envy the people who get to enjoy this for the first time. π @TwoPaddocks
π Had the joy of working with @NSWEducation students and teachers in Orange this past week. A special highlight: visiting Bletchington PS and being interviewed by their book club about my favourite childrenβs book! Listen here to find out what it is: https://t.co/tIPjRX8e5W
