Government choices on lockdowns are often judged against New Zealand and Sweden. In fact UK is more like India: A lockdown without financial support, which fails on all fronts. Stark analysis by @stephenkb. https://t.co/yOMOlhDjXW
“This government stands unequivocally against Critical Race Theory”. 😳
It’s not just Trump: the Tories are every bit as extreme in their attacks on legitimate and profoundly important academic work. I really am a bit speechless...

'Critical Race Theory' tell us that race isn't 'real' though it has strong operations force.
Why is it that people who 'don't see race' don't like this surely perfectly acceptable insight? Is it because they WANT race to have biological basis?
But I can also tell you this, and this is something that all discussions of decolonisation MUST engage with: people like this enabled and facilitated colonialism in South Asia and Africa. The Empire absolutely relied on black & brown collaborators. This is not new.
blind retweeting will not be so simple now, twitter is hoping that by introducing some friction into the process, some people might better consider exactly what they’re retweeting or take the opportunity to add their own perspective...
A massive scandal.
How the govt's obsession with privatisation destroyed Test and Trace.
How this caused the resurgence of Covid-19.
How the official "Anti-Corruption Champion" is in the thick of the disaster he should be investigating.

Surely if @AndyBurnhamGM had registered Manchester as a small limited company with no experience in making PPE, no staff and £300 in the bank he'd have had £100 million by tea time.
This and his subsequent line that entrenched poverty is because "Westminster has ignored the north of England for so many years" makes this feel like a pretty iconic moment https://t.co/HOjkRTvPRt
I had an enjoyable discussion with @AaronBastani about what went right & what went wrong in 2019 and what next for the left.
TLDR: Brexit made us too establishment & now the socialists should have the confidence to build campaigns in society & the party

NEW: Whilst @AndyBurnhamGM gives that press conference in Manchester, Health Sec @MattHancock is on a call to Greater Manchester MP’s telling them the region will only get £8 per head. The £22m for entering tier 3 restrictions.
£38m less than what was finally offered. @SkyNews
The gov is spending £7k a *day* on individual consultants and spending £7.86 per person in GM. The incredible levels of corruption, coercion, and contempt at the heart of the British state emerging in stark ways.
Someone is alive this week because you wore a mask last month.
Someone is healthy today because you washed your hand and kept your distance.
Someone is ignoring the science, but breathing still, because you didn’t.
Thank you for your kindness.
Let’s keep it going.
