Today on International Womenβs Day, we are celebrating all of our wonderful female volunteers across Beds & Cambs Wing! It is hard to remember that despite the Corps being formed in 1941, women weren't allowed to join until 1980! It would be a very different place without them.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sergeant Serena Mockford as Wing Diversity and Inclusion Advisor. Sgt Mockford is currently posted at 2417 (Newmarket) Squadron and will take on this role as a supernumerary post within the wider RAFAC Inclusion Team.
Following the 2024 Cadet of the Year Competition, CWO Rose Lammin of @207 has been crowned the Best Cadet in Beds & Cambs Wing, with CWO Davis Russellcook of @1094 coming a very close runner-up. Both will now be representing the Wing in the Dacre/ATC75 Sword Competition at Region
Last week, Beds & Cambs Wing attended The Bedfordshire Lord Lieutenantβs Employers Breakfast at Shuttleworth House. Sqn Ldr H Tanner, CI Jason Venn & CWOs Rosie Lammin & Brandon Venn were there to speak to attendees about the possible benefits of being involved with Cadet Forces.

Last weekend saw 33 Cadets take on 40km over 2 days and obtain their Bronze Road Marching Badge.
WO Laker-Warner, Wing Road Marching Officer, would also like to pass on thanks to the staff that made it possible by leading or supporting the teams.
Over the February Half-term Week a total of 113 Cadets took part in several courses across the Wing. We ran 4 Air Rifle courses, Weapons training, Bronze Comms & Bronze Cyber courses, Bronze Leadership course & a Cadet Drill Instructor course.
This weekend 2 CFAV & 16 cadets attended an AFA course. This is a two-day course covering all areas of first aid including CPR, recognising & treating heart attacks, strokes, bleeds, head & spinal injuries. Everyone passed with the 16 cadets gaining their Silver First Aid badge.
It was a busy night last night for @OCBedsCambsWing , not only was he presenting medals at the Inter Squadron Swimming Gala, he also interviewed for the highest cadet rank in the @aircadets.
