A heart murmur's timing, quality and location are among the most important differentiating features.
Ejection murmurs: Harsh, loudest at the base, radiate into the neck and apex
Regurgitation murmur: high pitches, well localized to the apex or left sternal border.
What is a Mallet finger?
Most common tendon injury of the finger. It happens when an object strikes the tip of an extended finger, causing a forced flexion at the DIP joint. The patient present with pain at the dorsal DIP joint and the inability to actively extend the joint
Fingernails can tell you a lot. You can tell if a patient had a severe systemic illness by Beauโs lines, which are horizontal, deep grooved lines in the nails caused by a temporary arrest in the cell division in the nail matrix. The lines will grow out as the nail grows.
A patient presents with a sore throat ,fever, problems speaking (hot potato voice) and problems swallowing. What are you worried about?
Peritonsillar abscess: The most common deep neck infection in young adults. Exam findings: extremely swollen tonsil with deviation of the uvula.

Upper motor neuron disease --> e.g. Stroke, MS, Brain tumor
Lower motor neuron disease --> e.g. Polyneuropathy, Trauma
Neuromuscular junction --> e.g. Myasthenia gravis
Muscle disease --> e.g. Drug induced myopathy, Thyroid disease, Polymyositis
In a patient with excess linear growth of the long bones and joint laxity think Marfanโs syndrome. Marfanโs syndrome is quite common. Incidence is 1 in 3000-5000 individuals. Undiagnosed and untreated Marfanโs syndrome is frequently associated with aortic dissection.

A rash on the eyelids is very rare. If your patient has a rash on the eye lids (can look like pink eye shadow) think Dermatomyositis or DRESS syndrome.
