And so the process of writing a DARE essay has begun for my 5th grade students. Tonight I sit at home reading rough drafts and making editing suggestions. These papers are a reflection of lessons that will last a lifetime.

The connection we made during the Global Read Aloud with a class of 4th and 5th graders in Ontario, Canada continues to be strong. Today we mailed a package of homemade Christmas cards to Mrs. Corbett's class. Hoping the cards arrive before her students leave on Christmas break.

You must be doing something right when a parent calls to tell you how excited she is after listening to an author chat you posted on their child's SeeSaw Journal. This inspired the parent to connect with a friend from India who sent the class an interesting snack. #GRAAmal #GRA18
