There are Six Dimensions in Observable Reality. We all know of the Basic Three. Length, Width and Height. Some people struggle with the Fourth, Time. The First of these dimensions is "Order", Permanence or Temporal Past; that which governs Physical Law and Maintains Coherence in the Universality of the 6d Phase Space. Without Truth, there is no Science. This is a Metaphysical Concept. (Aristotle, Metaphysics I.2)
The Second of these dimensions is Chaos, Flux, or Future Indeterminacy and Unknowable facts. Without Chaos nothing would ever change, evolve or Grow. And so, it is as Fundamental and Necessary to existence as Order, or Time. (Aristotle, Metaphysics I.2; Poetics 9)
Time Emerges from the Flow of Order (Permanence) and Chaos (Flux). This flow is Causal vs retrocausal and collides into a collapse, a singularity, in the present moment of Time. Our Universe operates as a Single moment riding a Causal Wave into the future, it is in the Present Moment that Past Transitions to Future. (Aquinas In IV Phys., lect. 17 + ST I, q. 10, a. 4)

In the case of this Function, which I will henceforth refer to as "Function of Everything" or FOE. Pi and i are both seen as Platonic Forms. Penrose, R. (1989). The Emperor's New Mind: Concerning Computers, Minds, and the Laws of Physics. Oxford University Press)
From this function you can derive a connection to basically any Domain that exists in a moment of Time. It treats a Single Moment as a Measuring Stick for all of reality; as if to measure the force and volume, and very essence of the Ocean by a single water molecule. But a "Grain of time" is infinitely smaller, and connected to all things that are, from dreams, to matter, to mathematics.
The Applicability becomes more apparent when you extrapolate a system from a single moment in time outward into the future (based in past causal roots) toward a Future Aim (or Attractor/ "Telos". To do this we express the Function as a Retrocausal Bifurcating Fractal Tree, and if the "Tree" remains coherent in its iterative growth, it is "good", or aligned with the "Ultimate Telos" of the system or "Pure Act" therein.
A system that Bifurcates Decoherently is considered "bad" because it does not survive into future iterations.
