I will never shut up about COVID. I will never shut up about Palestine. In both cases, the US political establishment (both Democrats and Republicans) made calculated decisions about which lives they believe are expendable. And it’s disgusting.
I was asked to write a piece about intersectionality for my grad school listserv and decided it would be a good time to let everyone know I'm queer. 🤸🏿♀️
Pride is seen as extracurricular and apparently if you’re disabled, you should be okay with just the basic necessities of life. Being apart of public life and communal spaces is a privilege, apparently.
I genuinely have no hope that non-disabled queer people will consider disabled queer people enough to make their events accessible.
They think it will impact their bottom line, and that’s what community is truly about during Pride month.
💕Profit💕.
vaguely recall seeing some university spending significantly more on union-busting, policing, etc... than it would have cost to meet the demands of organizing graduate workers because the issue is never the money; it's the power. they'll happily take this deal; AI won't organize.
If you know how much Chicago (or any other university) is paying to give everyone on campus Claude Enterprise, my DMs are open. I am curious how this expense compares to the apparently “too expensive” humanities PhD programs Chicago has cut. I bet the answer is illuminating!
Notice how universities are moving at break-neck speed to make sure their students have AI but have been resistant to paying graduate students, faculty and staff a living wage. It's not about the money—it's about what a neoliberal university system prioritizes.
gen ai isn’t an inevitable tool like so many industry people will tell you.
it’s divorced from the creation of art it’s the reanimation of a corpse that was never alive in the first place
What’s a 50% ownership stake in nothing? Because that’s what we’re all going to have if they don’t quit it with this goofy shit. Do they understand Earth is about to evict us?
I will soon be introducing a bill to give the public a 50% ownership stake in the largest AI companies in America.
This would guarantee that the trillions created by AI are used to improve the lives of all of us — and block oligarch decisions that harm the American people.
This is the article to amplify this week.
“Long COVID confirmed a difficult reality: modern healthcare systems are optimized for diseases that can be rapidly diagnosed, categorized, and treated — not illnesses that require uncertainty tolerance, longitudinal care, and deep listening.”
