@StemCellBerto @workingbnb I would love to take a (longer) vacation and it would probably help so much getting motivation & focus back. Being in my last 8months of my PhD, it feels like there is no time for a vacation as there is still so much left to do. It is a viscous circle.
Long time no seeππ»
Currently at the stage of my #phdlife where I only work π¬π & sleep π΄
Anyone else struggling to find motivation to do anything else? ππΌββοΈπ§Άπͺ΄Anything that would benefit your mental health π§πΌ but you feel like you donβt have the energy for it?

@HelephantMylne Sounds very tempting! Havenβt found anything that keeps me motivated to keep on excericising. So far, I havenβt given volleyball a try - I guess the time has come now! Thank you for your suggestion ππ
@njoybetz My colleagues and I used to go to the canteen each day all together, which was lovely as you got to know everyone from your group more personally. Since COVID, itβs only lunch breaks at the desk π definitely preferred the breaks from 2 years ago..
@AhlemFaraoun @PhDVoice@AcademicChatter Use simple and basic words, donβt go into any details. And ask them questions, to see what they know and what they have understood, before going on. Keep it as simple as possible π
What are YOU doing for your mental health? π
Thinking it should all be about work while doing your PhD is wrong. Donβt work too long hours π, go for a walk π, go have a coffee βοΈ, take time for something YOU like! πΌ

Today was the first day during my PhD that I was feeling like myself - after 3.5 years!!!
Who else struggles with feeling like themselves during their #phdlife ?
I feel you and youβre not alone π»

@AKLChristoph @PhDVoice Exactly, it is easier said than done. I am now in my 3rd year of a 4 year project, and seeing all the things I could/need to do until I can graduate is just so stressful. This makes it so difficult for me to balance work and self-care, even though both are equally important!
@Franz_R_Schmid@PhDVoice I had those rituals beginning of my PhD, but slowly I just got rid of them because I started working longer, than getting up earlier to start work early etc And going back from this situation is so difficult, because at work, there is always more you could do.
Dear #AcademicTwitter community,
How important would you think it is, as a PhD student, to have your own funding?
It is now the 4th time a grant application of mine got rejected and always with the same comment: very interesting, but too risky.

Pursuing what you love doesnβt mean it will be an easy way. It means you will sacrifice so much more for your goals.
Hereβs to another year full of ups&downs, failures&achievements, self-doubts&self-confidence..
We can do it πͺπ»

@NeuroSarcastic Hello :)
I am Cat and my hobbies are hiking and my plants πΏ My biggest dream is to be happy and reach that point in life, where I can say with confidence that I am proud of everything I have achieved βΊοΈ my week has been long but it is all about the little achievements in life π
Reminder:
When you get a compliment, TAKE IT!
It is so much more difficult to say something positive/nice about a person than something negative.
So if someone gives you a compliment, they mean it!!! πΌ

R U OK? π
Today is @ruokday so take a moment and ask this question to the people you care about.
It has been a challenging year for a lot of us. Asking this question right now can mean a lot to someone.
So donβt forget to check up on your people π
