7/10 Good morning @POTUS. You know you can stop brain drain and provide relief to so many high-skilled workers who are in never ending #greencardbacklog just because of discriminatory country cap? What is stopping you from giving them EAD+AP?
Terrible, disappointing news in the November 2021 Visa Bulletin released today. @USCISDirector, it's critical to process as many pending AOS applications with the time remaining in October. And it is imperative for the State Department to shed transparency on the retrogression.
Call @SenatorDurbin at 202-224-2152 & ask him why Sections 60002/3/4 aren't with the Parliamentarian?
Does the Senator think you are underserving of relief just because of your national origin? Does he have any kind of animus towards skilled or Indian immigrants? Call & ask!
A high skilled immigrant should not have to wait 195 years for a Green Card simply because of where he is born. #Immigration reform needs to happen now.
@anirb_das It is what happens when a humanitarian cause gets crushed by the greed of AILA. Life of immigrant worker be dammed, they just want a constant flow of $$$ for doing the paperwork.
Biden's immigration EOs give me flashbacks of Obama's EOs where he directed agencies to come up with policies. "Providing portable work authorization for high skilled workers awaiting LPR" ended up including "compelling circumstances" which rendered it useless.
Withdrawing #H4EAD rescission rule is a good first step. But, processing delays hurt the program & 1000s are losing jobs because of this. H4EAD is only given to those who are already on path to GC, but made to wait cos of birth country. Hope new director will address this.
@anirb_das Any thoughts on why there is still a regressive rule about the requirement of biometric for the H4 but not the primary H1B. Some things do not make any sense. What can we do to request abolishing this rule when the folks getting affected are women and children?@KamalaHarris
The Biden administration should also consider recapturing the 300k+ EB Green Cards that remain wasted as per Ombudsman Annual Report. Point to note that these Green Cards are not in INCREASE in quota, but GCs already APPROVED by Congress but never issued by USCIS.
