@_notrose This is beyond asinine. Would you say this about Chrono Trigger? Super Metroid? Shit, FF6? Completely disingenuous, bad-faith take to desperately dismiss the abundance of grievances people have with a soulless product.
@KHAOSANIMA418 So how would you reconcile this interpretation with the fact that Avalanche didn't kill innocent people in the remake continuity? The characters are still weirdly precious about the Turks, despite their mass murder, and actively averse to hurting or killing them
@KHAOSANIMA418 Perhaps I'm too woke, but I think that corpofascists who kidnap children and drop plates on cities, killing thousands are, in fact, evil. And having our protagonists pleasantly greet them like old friends after murdering their comrades is quite bad writing, actually!
@QueenLolipopo Sephiroth shows up every five seconds, even summons Gilgamesh, a comic relief antagonist, to fight you.
I could go on and on, but you get my point.
@QueenLolipopo There's an insecurity in the remakes against having heavy scenes or making the characters distasteful in any way. It's all sanitized. Like Cid.
Nibelheim's new presentation lacks weight
Trail of blood became Trail of goo.
Whenever it's time to get serious, the games get cold feet
@QueenLolipopo I don't think what they've shown for Part 3 is at all different from how they presented the last two. The tone and gravitas are neutered, many characters are butchered (Cid, Aerith, Zack, Sephiroth). It's trying to do the OG story beat plus new ones that are totally incompatible
@QueenLolipopo I've been saying this for six years now (impressive how Dunkey literally got it backwards - but then again his interpretation of the original was total nonsense anyway.
@luima83 Like I don't think it's reasonable to go "wow, the people who made Crisis Core and Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts and the FFX-3 novel and The Third Birthday and Lightning Returns are gonna make something really evocative and intelligent and not lazy and tasteless."
@luima83 Remake never actually said anything of substance, so it's no wonder why Rebirth had nothing to say either. At least it stopped pretending to be anything other than braindead garbage at the end.
@Torgan616@edennnkk It's actually insane, because the remakes are an implicit acknowledgment of the Compilation's failure. Before the release of the first one, Nomura said it would be difficult to reconcile them. So now they've inherited a mess and have to sabotage their own plot to incorporate it.
