Knee deep in snow and temperatures hovering around minus 23 degrees C. No wrapping, reduced entrance and insulated inner cover to retain hive heat.

An excellent honey crop just harvested from the apiary at the Summerhill Winery in Kelowna BC. Bees were foraging on the crushed grape residue put out for composting- something different but enjoyable.

An interesting 2020 beekeeping year, but like nature we bounce back and ended up having a good year, with the hives producing above average quantities of honey.

The first snow for Kelowna BC and all our bee colonies are healthy with a good supply of stored honey above the winter cluster. Looking forward to their first flights in the Spring of 2020. To our BBC membership, have a restful and enjoyable Christmas, we have had a good year.
Very important to work from the back of the hive, leaving the front entrance clear for bees. Try and spot any handling errors. Notice very little back bending due to the height of the hive stands.
